Our Story
Welcome to North Toxaway Baptist Church
North Toxaway Baptist Church has been meeting on this hillside for over 70 years. Like a lot of the little churches tucked into these mountains, we were built by families who wanted a place to worship close to home.
We’re a Southern Baptist congregation. On any given Sunday you’ll find about a hundred of us gathered — some who’ve worshipped here their whole lives, some who moved to the lake in retirement, and some who just stumbled in last week and kept coming back.
What we care about hasn’t changed in all those years: knowing Jesus, loving our neighbors, and passing the gospel down to the next generation.
North Toxaway Baptist Church was founded in 1952 in the old brick building across the road. For nearly fifty years, families gathered there — baptisms, weddings, funerals, potluck suppers, and a thousand ordinary Sundays. In 2001 the congregation moved into our current sanctuary, and in 2010 we added the Family Life Center, which is still where most of our fellowships, meals, and kids events happen today. Through every move, the mission has stayed the same: love God, love this community, and pass the gospel to the next generation.
