“Simon, Simon, behold, satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:31-32
In the hours before His arrest, Jesus looked straight at Peter and delivered a sobering warning. Satan had specifically asked permission to shake Peter violently, the way a farmer violently shakes wheat in a sieve to separate the valuable grain from the worthless chaff. The enemy wasn’t interested in merely tempting Peter; he wanted to sift him—to expose, humiliate, and destroy his faith through fear, failure, and pressure.
Be careful today and every day. It is easy to let pride, bitterness, an unforgiving heart, jealousy, or fear drive you away from Jesus. His intent is not to just shake you but to destroy you and your walk with Jesus.
