Pastor’s Update — June 4, 2026

I apologize there was no message yesterday. I had several ask in person and via txt where is today’s message? It was a busy day helping others and a Drs visit for myself.

I had my first Basil Cell Carcinoma removed yesterday. Many of you have experienced that little bit of fun. My first melanoma was 30 years ago and my last melanoma was about 20 years ago. Being so young with my first diagnosis they decided my melanoma was probably genetic. As I was talking with the dermatologist we reminisced that she had taken care of me for 23 years. She said we make a pretty good team. You do the preventative things you should do and I get rid of the bad stuff. The thing is I hate to wear sunscreen. I don’t like the way it feels and I generally sweat so much it just makes it worse. My remedy? If you see me working outside during the day I will have on a long sleeve shirt and a dorky looking hat all in trying to avoid to much exposure. I limit the chances of damage. If there is damage she cuts it out.

Sin is a lot like my melanoma. I was born with sin. Left alone that sin would destroy me. Thankfully Jesus removed the sin and made me clean. Every day I have to limit my exposure to sin, trying to keep it out of my life. If I get to careless sin will take root in my flesh once again. Conviction and repentance are the keys to quickly removing that sin.

Be diligent. The Bible says to avoid even the appearance of sin. Be on guard. Be watchful. Like the great Puritan preacher says, “Be killing sin or sin will be killing you!”
