Pastor’s Update — July 13, 2026

If you missed church yesterday you missed one of the most humbling, convicting, and worshipful moments you will ever experience.

As we began to sing yesterday there was a voice I do not normally hear singing. I could tell it was being sung with a heart full of joy, worship, and abandon. I couldn’t understand the words but the meaning was clear. Little Sophie, Evelyn and Gary Chapmans granddaughter, was visiting for the week. She was standing there with her mom, Lily, and her grandmother, Evelyn, praising the Lord with all her heart. Eyes were closed, hands, raised, and that precious voice worshipping.

If you do not know the details Sophie is a miracle all on her own. She was born with a very rare genetic disorder. Her challenges are many, both physically and mentally. Her parents were told she would never walk nor talk but here she is worshipping. To those who know her story we just all smiled and there were also tears.

Sophie’s worship also brought conviction. Here is the precious child of God worshipping with abandon. It didn’t matter who else was there or what they thought she understood worship. She put us all to shame yesterday with our pride in what others may think of us.

We may not have understood the words but the message was clear. Praise the name of Jesus!!!!!!

Be a Sophie!!!!!!!
