Proverbs 30:8-9
…..give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me,
lest I be full and deny you
and say, “Who is the LORD?”
or lest I be poor and steal
and profane the name of my God.
We are bombarded with the concept of bigger is better. The newer, the shinier, the latest, the greatest will be all that we need. It will fix all my issues. If I can just get or achieve this one more thing all will be well. It can be houses, cars, land, boats, tractors, clothes, relationships, or whatever but it will leave you empty.
The key is contentment in the situation. Trusting that God has you right where you need to be at this point and time in your life. For most of us it’s not getting the next thing that will fix the situation. For those that have plenty it’s not in giving away everything you have and living in poverty. Contentment is realizing God is in control and trusting in His plan and His timing.
Are you content in your current situation? If not I promise you will not be content when your situation changes the next time either.
