I just read a quote by Rosario Butterfield just now and it should give us pause about those around us.
”We may never know the treacherous journey others have faced to land in the pew next to you.”
Some have medical issues, some have financial issues, some have family issues, some have a broken heart, some have addictions, some have hidden sin, some are lonely. The list could go on and on.
The other Sunday I spoke up in the sermon and said I was tired of ceding the rainbow to another group. Well I’m also taking back “a safe place”. Our churches should not be a place of judgement, nor should we think of it as a social club. We are a rescue mission for broken sinners! All of us need Jesus, for salvation and sanctification! The church should be a safe space where spiritually and sometimes physically we are given a warm cup of soup, a nice blanket, a friendly smile, and rest to prepare us for the next weeks journey.
Hold hands, hug, cry, laugh, pray, lift high the name of Jesus!!!!!!!!
