Pastor’s Update — September 9, 2026

“He makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:45

The morning mist lifts off the ridgeline. Coffee is brewing. A bird that does not know your name sings as if the whole mountain were made for that one note. Sunshine peaks through the leaves. Later in the day it will rain benefitting your garden and on the neighbor who never darkens a church door. None of this is accidental. It is common grace.

Common grace is God’s undeserved kindness shown to all people—believer and unbeliever alike—in the ordinary gifts of creation, provision, restraint of evil, and the beauty that still clings to a fallen world. It is not saving grace. It does not regenerate the heart, justify the sinner, or secure heaven. It is the goodness of the Creator that keeps the world from flying apart and that lets even those who deny Him taste His kindness.

Common Grace benefits all mankind, redeemed and lost because He is good, gentle, and kind.
