Pastor’s Update — June 12, 2026

I have a very faint memory of this event because I was little but I was told this story by mom and dad over the years.

We didn’t have much when I was little but somehow mom and dad had given me an ample supply of Tonka toys. There were various little ones and a few bigger ones I specifically remember. There was the big yellow metal dump truck, a motor grader, and a bulldozer. There was many sandpiles conquered on my knees with those toys. I insisted in storing those outside with dads lawnmower. Dad had one of those little tin buildings you would get from Sears. He had lined it with bricks on the inside. It was very cheap and crude but it kept things dry. Late on a hot summer day came a huge line of storms. There was a tornado that passed in the pasture behind the house. It didn’t directly hit the little tin building but I do remember seeing it fly over the fence and tumble into pieces. There sat dads lawnmower and my Tonka toys lines up exposed to the storm. This is the part I don’t remember and I question because I was the perfect child. 😬. I have been told I lost it and began to cry uncontrollably because my Tonka trucks were getting wet and might blow away too. After being unconsoulable dad went outside in the wind and the rain to collect those trucks and bulldozer and motorgrader. His lawnmower stayed outside but my Tonka trucks were now safe.

Matthew 7:8-11

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

You may be in the middle of the storm of a lifetime and all you hold precious is getting blown away by the wind. Remember our Father in Heaven knows and cares for you. He knows your heart, He sees what’s precious to you, He has a plan. Everything is going to be ok!
