Pastor’s Update — June 13, 2026

Language is constantly changing. We quit using older words and invent new ones. There is however some older words I think we should bring back. This one is an older German word that doesn’t have direct English translalatiom and definition but I’ll give it a shot with some help from the internet.

Morgenmuffel

A “Morgenmuffel” is an insulting term for someone who is distinctly not a morning person, exhibiting a palpable grumpiness, irritability, and general unresponsiveness before they’ve fully transitioned from slumber to wakefulness. This individual operates in a fog, often requiring a substantial jolt of caffeine or quiet solitude to become even remotely sociable or functional. It captures that universally recognized, yet distinctly named, period of morning malaise where cheerfulness is an alien concept and conversation is an unwelcome intrusion.

Tomorrow is Sunday and I hope to see all of you in church. I do not however wish to see any morgenmuffels! Make a plan, get up early, so when you pull into the parking lot you can shine for Jesus!

Have a great Saturday. I love you!
