Pastor’s Update — October 7, 2026

On Monday I checked our PO Box and in the mail was a catalog from Amazon. Now everyone knows Amazon is the largest online shopping site in the world. You can buy anything and everything but first you have to find it online. Well this catalog that came was more the size of a magazine but it was filled with toys. Even as a 58 year old man I looked at this toy catalog. There were no racetracks, or train sets, or GI Joes but it was a printed toy catalog. I asked Susan if I turned down a page and circled the toys I liked could I get it for Christmas? You see like most of you I remember the Sears Christmas Wishbook. I looked at that thing for hours on end, creasing pages, and circling toys for Christmas. I rarely received everything I circled but every year I tried again.

What was recently considered old fashioned and out dated is new again.

Statistics are bearing out that same truth in the church. Young families are returning. Young people are understanding that everything that the world has to offer is empty and vain. The need for a traditional family with Biblical values are far more satisfying than the world. Look around our church. At times in the past there were few or sometimes one young family. Now the church is actually becoming younger and younger. Sure satan is still on the loose and attacking. He is picking off families if they aren’t vigilant. But I see hope. If anything this past Sunday proves the future is bright. Stay vigilant. Keep praying. Remain faithful.

The love of Jesus, the truth of the gospel, and church are needed today more than ever.
