Rememeber older flashlights with an incandescent bulb and weak batteries? The flashlight beam slowly grows dimmer and instead of bright light it becomes yellow. Rememeber a cold morning when your truck battery barely turns the engine over and then fails to crank?.
Our own strength is like that—limited, leaky, and eventually empty.
Paul prayed “that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” The Holy Spirit is not a battery we recharge on Sunday morning. He is the third Person of the Trinity, the same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation, who raised Jesus from the dead, and who now lives inside every child of God. He does not grow weak. He does not need a charger. He does not run out!!!!!!!
That is why the outer man can waste away while “our inner self is being renewed day by day.” Being exhausted is real. Life is tough. Family wears. The world presses. Yet the power that raised Christ from the grave is not a feeling we manufacture; it is a Person we yield to. “Walk by the Spirit,” Paul says, “and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” The strength is already in you. The question is whether we will lean on Him or keep trying to run on our own weak batteries

His power is not given so we can live large and self-sufficient. It is given so we can endure, obey, witness, and finish the race when our own batteries have long since gone dead. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
The Spirit who lives in you will not fail. He never has. He never will.
