Pastor’s Update — July 8, 2026

Some good thoughts from Pete Hurst

There will always be people smarter and more talented than me.

I can appreciate them and be thankful for their contributions.

However, that doesn’t mean that I’m not gifted or that there aren’t unique ways I can serve God and others in His world.

It’s a big world with lots of needs and opportunities.

I can fill a space, maybe more than one, because there are more needs than there are people to meet them.

Should I have given up real estate because there may have been a few better real estate agents than me?

No, I should have fulfilled the place I had, giving excellent service, along with my wife, and help the people we helped.

If we all gave up everything we weren’t the best in, we’d end up doing nothing except being the best at giving up and quitting.

We will never hear Christ say, “Well done, great and perfect servant.”

No, what we want to hear is “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21,23).

Even though I may not be the best, my goal is to be my best for the Lord and that is good enough.
